Draper Startup House launches investment syndicate platform in India

Singapore-based global syndicate Draper Startup House or DSH has announced today the launch of Draper Venture Syndicate Network, a seed-stage investment syndicate platform in India.

Draper Startup House will provide seed and angel investments for local startups by leveraging its global network of investors. The platform will help startups in making relevant connections with their investment partners and vice versa.

Besides syndications, it would also facilitate the option to invest through the San-Francisco-based Draper University Fund.

With 25 investors and 37 startups, DSH is also in talks to collaborate with few major investment firms including Qualcomm Ventures, Nexus Venture Partners, Inventus Venture Partners, and Axilor Ventures, said an ET report.

Draper Startup House is a global chain of hostels targeted for young startups and entrepreneurs.  In February this year, Draper Venture Network, the venture capital arm of American venture capital investor Tim Draper, had invested $3.5 million in Tribe Theory and rebranded it as Draper Startup House.

Angel syndicate has been evolving in India with several old networks such as Indian Angel Network (IAN) and Mumbai Angels dominating the last decade. However, new-age platforms including Lets Venture and Angelist have brought a new pool of investors to early-stage investing in India.

While early-stage investment space is overcrowded and many mainstream VC firms also jumped to place seed-stage bets, there is enough opportunity for all to make fortune from the burgeoning entrepreneurial ecosystem in India. DSH has joined the list of several other VC firms focused on seed and local startups including Blume Ventures, India Quotient, Orios, Good Capital, and Arkam Ventures among many others.
