Funding in Indian startups this week (17 Feb-22 Feb)

This week 20 Indian startups raised funding, of which 18 received a total sum of about $394 million. Among them, Swiggy raised the highest funding of about $113 million followed by Unacademy, which raised $110 million.

Meanwhile, funding for 2 of the total funded startups remained undisclosed.

Below is the summary of deals closed this week

BharatPe: Private equity firm Coatue has led $75 million (Rs 535 crore) Series C round along with existing investor Ribbit Capital in BharatPe. The round could be an ongoing one and more capital may flow to the company’s coffers.

Swiggy: Food delivery major Swiggy has raised Rs 805 crore ($113.3 million) in Series I round led by South African multinational Internet Group Naspers, which alone has invested Rs 712 crore ($100 million). Existing investors Hadley Harbour Master Investments and Meituan have also participated in the round.

Whatfix: Digital guidance and engagement platform Whatfix has secured $32 million in a Series C round led by Sequoia Capital India. Existing investors: Eight Roads Ventures, US-based sister fund F-Prime Capital, and Cisco Investments also participated.

Unacademy: Edtech startup Unacademy has now scored $110 million in a fresh round led by General Atlantic. Social media networking giant Facebook has also participated in the round.

Shuttl: Daily office commute transportation startup Shuttl has secured $3.3 million as part of Series C round led by Japan-based Sojitz Corporation in which Compound Partners LLC also participated.

Onsitego: After-sales services firm Onsitego has secured $19 million in a Series B funding round led by Zodius Growth Fund. Existing investors Accel India and Accel US also participated in the round.

Zvesta: Gurugram-based prop-tech startup Zvesta has secured $5.5 million in a Series A funding round from Hindustan Media Ventures.

Dunzo: Hyper-local delivery startup Dunzo has secured $11 million in a venture debt funding round from Alteria Capital.

Digit Insurance: Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have invested $0.35 million in digital general insurance startup Digit Insurance.

MaxWholesale: B2B e-commerce platform for Kirana stores, MaxWholesale has secured $3 million in a Series A round led by IAN Fund-I and AI Falaj Investment Company.

Carbon Clean: Cleantech startup Carbon Clean Solutions has raised $16 million in a fresh funding round from US-based WAVE Equity Partners and Chevron Technology Ventures, and Japan’s Marubeni Corporation.

Genius Corner: Edtech company Genius Corner has secured $0.25 million in a funding round from Singapore-based Individual Investors.

InVideo: Video production and editing platform InVideo has raised $2.5 million in a funding round led by Sequoia Capital’s Surge.

Prayaan: MSME-focused financial technology startup Prayaan has raised $1.2 million in a seed funding round led by Accion Venture Lab.

AvalonMeta: Edtech startup AvalonMeta has raised $0.42 million in a funding round led by Peerplays.

PlanetSpark: Gamified learning solutions startup PlanetSpark has raised $0.44 million in its pre-Series A round of funding.

Near.store: Plug and play e-commerce platform for offline stores Near.store has raised $0.3 million seed round from Sauce.vc.

GO DESi: Foodtech startup GO DESi has raised $0.62 million from Delhi-based Rukam Capital. AngelList and Upaya Social Ventures also participated.

Undisclosed deals this week

Sanfe and ElecTorq did not disclose their financial details on funding.
