Funding in Indian startups this week (22 July-27 July)

This week 17 Indian startups received funding, of which 15 received a total sum of about $209 million. Among them, Zeta raised the highest funding of $60 million followed by LEAP which raised $31.3 million.

Meanwhile, funding for 2 of the total funded startups remained undisclosed.

Below is the summary of deals closed this week:

Zeta: Enterprise focused fintech firm Zeta has raised about $60 million worth Series C round from Sodexo. This is the first round of external funding for the Mumbai-based company owned by serial entrepreneurs – Bhavin Thurakia and Ramki Gadipatti.

Cred: Kunal Shah-led firm Cred has raised $4 million from Sequoia Capital India.

LEAP: Supply chain and logistics startup LEAP India has scooped up$31.3 million in a Series C round led by private equity firm TVS Capital Funds.

Indifi: Alok Mittal-led B2B lending platform Indifi has raised a $21.32 million in Series C round led by CDC Group.

UrbanClap:  Former Flipkart CPO Mekin Maheshwari along with SAB Holding which has invested $0.21 million in home service marketplace UrbanClap.

CIFCPL: Sachin Bansal has invested $3.6 million in microfinance firm Chaitanya India Fin Credit (CIFCPL) run by Chaitanya Rural Intermediation Development Services.

PayMate: Business-to-business digital payment solutions provider PayMate has scooped up $25 million in its Series D round from Visa, Recruit Strategic Partners, and Brand Capital.

boAt: Electronic tech startup boAt has scooped up an investment of$2.3 million from InnoVen Capital. Only last week, Sachin Bansal-steered BAC Acquisitions gave a commitment of Rs 20 crore to Aman Gupta-led startup.

PlayShifu: Augmented reality-based educational toys maker for kids, PlayShifu has scooped up fresh funding of $7 million in Series A round led by Chirate Ventures, Inventus Capital and Bharat Innovation Fund while existing backers IDFC-Parampara Fund also participated in the round.

Drip Capital: Mumbai and Palo Alto-based fintech startup Drip Capital has scooped up fresh funding of $25 million in Series B round led by Accel Partners. GC1 Ventures, Trusted Insight along with existing backers Sequoia Capital, Y Combinator and Wing VC also participated in the round.

Pariksha: Pune based exam preparation platform Pariksha has scooped up fresh funding of $0.58 million from Venture Catalysts. Venture Catalysts have invested the amount in the current $1 million pre-series A investment round.

SmartE: Five-year-old startup SmartE, which provides electric mobility services and focuses on offering shared last-mile connectivity, has scooped up an investment of $14.5 million from Japan-based Mitsui in Series B round.

Kissht: Sachin Bansal has invested $7.2 million in consumer lending startup Kissht via BAC Acquisition.

WinZO Games: Vernacular real-money gaming platform WinZO Games has raised $5 million in Series A funding round led by Kalaari Capital and Hike.

Coverfox: Online insurance platform Coverfox has raised about $2.3 million in funding from existing investors.

Undisclosed deals this week

Snapdeal and Paisa Dukan did not disclose their financial details on funding.
