Premium sanitary napkin maker Azah secures $200K seed fund

Women wellness startup Azah that makes premium organic sanitary napkin, has raised seed fund of $200,000 from four angel investors including HNIs from consumer internet space.

With this fundraise, the five-month-old startup will focus on to expand its inventory and operations across India. A significant pie of the investment will also be used to ramp up supply chain management of the product and further improve customer service.

Launched by Shashwat Diesh and Aqib Mohammed, Azah claims to sell its products in more than 1800 pin codes and has sold 200,000 pads across India.

Approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Azah caters to the needs of quality-conscious urban consumers and focuses on solving some of the most critical problems in the feminine hygiene sector.

In a press statement, Azah revealed that it is looking to achieve 10X growth with respect to order volumes within 12 months.

Apart from Azah, Nua, Carmesi, Elize, and Saathi are some notable startups in the consumer-centric brand in the female hygiene care space.

Of late, personal hygiene startup have been getting acknowledgment for their innovative ideas. Last month, Nua had raised $4 million in its Series A funding round led by venture capital firm Lightbox while Kae Capital also participated. Nuva was amongst 128 startups that were funded by DPIIT’s (formerly DIPP)  Fund of Funds.

On the other hand, biodegradable sanitary napkins manufacturer Saathi was referred to as the third most innovative companies from India by American business magazine Fast Company.
