Swiggy introduces Stores; delivers everything from veggies to paan

Swiggy has launched Swiggy store to deliver virtually everything at customer doorstep. The service that Entrackr has just used delivers grocery, medicine, meat amongst several others within a six-kilometer radius.

Swiggy Store also lets users order flowers, gourmet foods, pet and babycare essentials. Customers require to choose stores and list products they want.

Further, Swiggy’s delivery partners will pick up a list of items, cross-check them with customers and deliver. It’s worth noting that Swiggy Dash and Store are the same services. The company’s spokesperson has confirmed that Swiggy Store is internally referred to as Dash.

Unlike the previous report, Swiggy Store would be an in-app feature, not a separate app.

The Naspers-backed firm has been planning for Swiggy Dash for quite some time. Last year, it had acquired Mumbai-based milk delivery startup Suprdaily. However, it’s yet to launch milk subscription service.

With Swiggy Store, it’s now directly competing with Google-backed dunzo, BigBasket, along with a few others.

After raising $1 billion at a staggering $3.3 billion valuation, the Bengaluru-based firm has been looking to expand into other verticals for scale and justifying the valuation. Launching Swiggy Store also makes an absolute sense for the firm as over the years it has built a massive customer base through food delivery.

A large chunk of Swiggy’s existing customer base is likely to use ‘Store’ frequently. Given that the majority of Swiggy’s customers also use dunzo and BigBasket, it would be exciting to observe how these customers ditch the duo over Swiggy.
