Flipkart founder Sachin Bansal and CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy have been alleged to cheat in a police complaint made by a buyer.
Naushad Chaudhary, a Ghaziabad-based lawyer, has alleged that Flipkart had sold him a laptop having features different from what was mentioned at the time of sale.
Police have lodged an FIR under the charges of cheating, criminal breach of trust and forgery.
According to Chaudhary, he bought the laptop under the special offers category last October. As per the offer, he was expected to receive an Intel processor in the laptop but the gadget he received had an AMD processor.
Complainant also claimed to have communicated about receiving different product to the company’s customer care, which initially agreed to replace the product but did not translate it into action. Flipkart customer care closed his complaint saying there was a discrepancy in the claim.
Then Chaudhary had sent a legal notice to Flipkart.
After not receiving any response, he approached a court and got an order passed for registration of an FIR against Flipkart, reports ET.
Flipkart had reportedly said to look into the matter and provide quick resolution to customers.
This is not the first time that a customer has lodged complaints against Flipkart.
There are a series of complaints in the past. In April 2015, a consumer claimed of getting fake JBL wireless speaker from the e-tailer.
In June 2016, the Malabar Hill police in Mumbai had registered a case of cheating against Flipkart for delivering a bar of soap to a customer who had ordered a Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
In Feb last year, Flipkart was lambasted by consumer court in Bengaluru for its unethical behaviour with a customer to whom the Walmart-controlled company was liable to pay the extra amount charged for a product purchased in December 2015.
In a time, when online commerce is growing in the country, there is an immediate need on e-tailers part to keep buyers at centre stage and take care of their concerns. After all, buyers trust make a business or brand what it becomes. And cheating cases such as mentioned above erode the trust of buyers in them.
