After shutting down eBay.in, Indian e-commerce major Flipkart has launched ‘2GUD’ an independent platform for refurbished goods.
Currently, the product portfolio of 2GUD include smartphones, laptops, tablets, smartwatches and electronic accessories. The portal is expected to come with more than 400 categories in future.
Flipkart VP Anil Goteti would be heading 2GUD portal along with Flipkart Marketplace.
This is the company’s maiden foray into the refurbished goods market – which it says is expected to be a $20 billion market in 5-6 years.
At 2GUD platform, prices will vary from 50-80 per cent of the original product’s price depending on the level of certification. Post-purchase, it will also provide warranty ranging from 3 to 12 months.
The new portal reflects that it will only sell full functional returned or used products. The current platform is mobile-only, however, it will soon be available on desktop and mobile app.
2GUD further claims that each product is certified and graded by the experts at F1 Info Solutions and Services that has over 140 service centers all over India.
For uninitiated, Flipkart had acquired mobiles and IT products repair services company, F1 Info Solutions in September last year.
According to a study by Quikr Bazaar, around 40 per cent out of the total population purchase handsets and wants to change them within a year.
With the launch of 2GUD, Flipkart will completely remove the hassle of buyer-seller interaction. The company’s new portal 2GUD will compete with Zefo, Refabd, Tradly, Quickr, Olx, Max Deal, Spoyl, Second hand mall, among others in this space.
Earlier, Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy had announced that the e-commerce platform would launch a new platform to sell refurbished goods and stop all customer transactions on eBay.in from August 14, 2018.
