Meanwhile, Hello was reportedly in beta phase for a long time but Orkut has struck while the iron is hot.

“Hello” brings people together around their interests to create positive, meaningful, authentic connections and sustained social engagement, the company said in a statement.

The app, currently available in Brazil with nearly one million downloads. It is now live on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

The new social network platform focusses on your hobbies, obsessions and passions and lets you choose personas to show your interest areas. These personas can be slotted under various categories such as clubber, geek, photographer, traveller and so on.

Entrackr has tried to access the newly launched Hello app and found the aforementioned features with a seamless experience.

The firm is headquartered in San Francisco and with a development office in Mountain View, California.

Prior to Hello, Buyukkokten-a Turkish engineer at Google was a part of the team who developed Orkut. The social media platform was owned and operated by Google and was named after him.
