To express love, gratitude and appreciation to others, we often come down to an act of gifting. Gifts are not always necessarily about the objects, but more about the experience. There are times when we go looking for gifts and can’t find one easily. But with so many choices and e-commerce sites around, how do you choose the right gift and right site?

“We at bigsmall are trying to change the gifting concept, by making unique and creative products easily accessible and relatable to each kind of person. We aim to create a moment of happiness with the products,” says Aman Hans, who co-founded Bigsmall, an online gifting commerce firm, along with his brother Yatin.

The platform, which is running on family funding, helps the customer select the product in real time allowing them to have a real-time shopping experience. Starting with mere 50 products, the platform now hosts 280+ unique products.

USP of the platform and partners

“Vertical e-commerce industry in the country has almost reached a saturation point, though there is still opportunity in niche segment like gifting,” says Aman.

Bigsmall claims to focus on unique and creative gifting, which itself is a specifically huge niche the market is moving onto. The company aims to be the biggest in this space, providing a curated collection for any gifting needs. From placing the order to its packaging, it claims to ensure complete customer satisfaction, taking care of little things that are often missed out in the rush for perfection.

“This shows transparency and builds trust. We also call each and every customer to confirm the orders and check if they have any queries,” adds Aman. “If we sell a product, it’s got to be seriously awesome. Since that’s the only criterion, we have something unique for everyone.”

For shipping and logistics requirements, Bigsmall has tied up with shipping aggregator such as Shyplite and work with reputed delivery partners such as FedEx, BlueDart and Delhivery as we strive to give the best gifting experience.

Growth and future plan

The company is growing rapidly as it clocks around 6000 orders per month. “Our goal is to target and increase that number 15,000-20,000 within the next 6 months,” says Aman. With business growing 300 percent each quarter, it claims to have clocked revenue of Rs 1 crore last year. “With end of this FY, we are on track to achieve revenue of Rs 5 crores,” quips Aman.

The company is bootstrap and wants to remain one. “We are happy building a platform that can be really useful and solve problem for our users. And we are happy being bootstrap”, says Aman. At present, it has a 13-member team comprising of Operations head, marketing team, content writers, interns and packaging boys.

Bigsmall plans to take its operations to a global market. “We are focusing and investing in marketing to reach out to a wider audience. Also, we plan to collaborate with new vendors to bring in more creative products. The next segment we will soon foray into is corporate gifting,” concludes Aman.
