Bengaluru based agri-tech startup CropIn Technology Solutions has raised an undisclosed amount of funding in pre-series A round led by BEENEXT, along with existing investors Ankur Capital and Boston-based organisation Invested Development, according to an ET report.

With this fund raise, CropIn plans to make investments in technology, data science and predictive technologies to detect and predict crops in different regions.

The current funding round takes the total funds raised by the startup to about $4 million. In August 2016, it had raised $2 million (Rs 13.4 crore) from Denmark’s Sophia Investment ApS. The transaction had valued the company at $12 million.

Founded in 2010 by Krishna Kumar, the company provides a cloud-based software platform to help farmers track their produce and consignments. It also offers an enterprise resource planning and business intelligence platform that has an in-built traceability system and collaborates with participants along the supply chain to monitor the status of farm produce. The platform also helps farmers manage the field workforce.

“We love early early stage entrepreneurs and will continue to focus on sectors like marketplaces since they accumulate proprietary data from customers. We are here for the long term,” said Teruhide Sato, Managing Partner at BEENEXT.

BEENEXT, which is based out of Singapore, has invested out of its $60-million fund and built a portfolio of over 30 startups now.

Besides CropIn, BEENEXT has also invested some other startups. Recently, it invested in cloud-based mobile parking technology platform GetMyParking.

Last year, the Japanese-based firm raised an undisclosed amount in its Series B funding round from investors led by venture capital fund Beenext.
