Zerodha pumps Rs 2 Cr in edtech startup LearnApp

Zerodha has pumped Rs 2 crore in edtech startup LearnApp. The investment was done through Rainmatter, an incubator and investment fund run by the online stock brokerage firm.

The Noida-based markets, investment, and trading-focused online video course provider will deploy this capital to expand its video offering besides ramping up its tech platform.

The multi-lingual platform offers courses such as trading, broking, GST, natural, language processing, crypto-blockchain, and others. It charges Rs 500 per month fee and offers discounts for subscribed users starting from a 3-month plan.

LearnApp specifically targets students pursuing postgraduate degrees in business studies while professionals also use the platform claims the Prateek Singh-led startup that got 3,600 users on it.

The startup produces over 23 live classroom sessions every month with industry veterans like Ashish Chauhan, CEO of BSE, A Balasubramanian, CEO of Aditya Birla AMC, and Nilesh Shah, MD of Kotak AMC, among others, reports ET.

Launched in August, LearnApp claims to have made Rs 12 lakh profit out of Rs 50 lakh revenue.

This is the second investment for Zerodha after getting NBFC licence from the Reserve Bank of India. In August, it infused Rs 2.5 crore as seed fund in Sensibull, a startup working in the options trading business via the same investment cycle.

Rainmatter, an initiative by Zerodha has earlier invested in Tradelabs, Smallcase, Digio, Balance, Neotrade, Sensibull and Streak.
